Saturday, November 18th, 2005 @ 1253 hrs EST----OH MY! What a great eating experience we had last night. I keep harping that Buffalo is the land of the greatest food on the face of the earth. Its true! Last night was a testament to that claim. Mom's husband Bill recommended that we go to a place called Lee's Frontier Grill at the corner of Austin & East streets. It had recently reopened to continue the long time legendary Friday night event, “The Fish Fry”. Its not a large place, a small bar in the front, and perhaps 8 tables in the dining room. As you walk through the front door, people stop what they are doing, look at you, smile and say welcome, we're glad you're here! Sit any place you want! What sets this place apart from the crowd is the Fish Fry itself.

As you can see in the photo, the meal is huge. The batter dipped haddock nearly drapes off of the plate. This batter is a lot like Japaneses Tempura, delicate, perfectly seasoned and spiced, golden tan color with a unique crispness. The haddock inside is moist, thick, and a mouth pleasing deal, indeed! When they bring your platter out to you from the kitchen, here is what you get; The Haddock, french fries, potato salad, macaroni salad, and home made cole slaw, all for..........$5.95. GET OUTTA HERE! Yup, $5.95 for the best fish fry you've ever grace your gullet. Add to this a nice ice cold Nordic N/A beer, and heaven really exists right here on earth. If you ever come to Buffalo (The biggest little city in America) you have got to hit Lee's Frontier Grill.
